Our Story

It started with borrowed skis

In the winter of 2011, a small group of Gulmarg locals — lift operators' sons, shepherds' grandsons, kids who learned to slide on wooden planks — pooled their savings into a handful of rental skis and a promise: teach this mountain properly, or not at all.

Fourteen seasons later that promise has grown into a full ski school, a trekking outfit and a luxury travel studio. What hasn't changed is who we are: locals first, guides second, and hosts always. When you travel with us, you're not buying a package — you're being welcomed into a valley.

A Message From Our Founder

It began with one ski track

Back in 2011, Gulmarg had the snow, the slopes and the views — but no real place to learn. So I started one: the first dedicated ski school in Gulmarg.

I grew up on this mountain. I learned to ski the way most of us did here — by falling, watching others and trying again. When visitors came asking how they could learn, there was no school to send them to. That gap is where the Gulmarg Ski Club was born.

The early days were hard. We had little gear and even less money. I borrowed equipment, taught small groups on the baby slopes, and reinvested every rupee back into boots, boards and safety kit. Convincing people that a local boy could run a proper ski school took years of showing up — every season, in every kind of weather.

Winters here are unforgiving: roads close, power cuts are common, and a bad snow year can wipe out a season. But slowly, beginner by beginner, the trust grew. I trained a team of instructors from our own valley so the knowledge would stay here, with the people of Gulmarg.

Today we welcome skiers from across India and the world, but the mission is the same as that first winter: take a complete beginner and send them home a skier. Thank you for letting us be part of your first turn on the snow.

What We Stand For

Mountains teach values. We just follow them.

Safety Is the Adventure

Conservative calls, daily snowpack and weather reviews, radio-linked teams and rehearsed evacuation plans on every route.

Leave the Meadow Better

Carry-in, carry-out expeditions, local employment on every trip, and one percent of revenue into valley clean-up drives.

Guests Become Family

More than half of each winter's learners are returning guests or their friends. That's the only marketing metric we track.

Instructor guiding a learner down a gentle slope

The Team

Taught by the mountain, certified by the best

Our 26 instructors and guides average eleven seasons of experience each. Between them: national ski-instructor certifications, avalanche safety training, wilderness first-aid, high-altitude expedition leadership — and an unbeatable knowledge of where the snow is softest at 9 a.m.
